Comment Policy: Reminder

This is just a little reminder that I encourage everyone to leave appropriate comments on any or all of my blog posts, but I ask that you leave some evidence of your identity when commenting. Registering for a blogger account or using OpenID are acceptable, as is just signing your first name or initials in your comment post if you prefer not to register. I find that people speak differently when readers know who they are. I don't publish anonymous comments. This keeps this space productive and positive. Thanks for playing by the rules :-)

Drumline: Miscommunications and Apologies

Mr. Davis and I have been attempting to fit in some extra drumline practice time over the past couple weeks and we just have to admit that it just hasn't been working out. It was a new venture for us, and we must admit it has not worked out quite like we had hoped. We want to apologize if you were inconvenienced by the makeshift schedule that we came up with. We'll not be having any more impromptu practices. If you have any additional concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

What does the picture have to do with this? It's what you get when you type "drumline disaster" into Google images. LOL. Trying to lighten an otherwise tense situation...I hope it succeeded.

FMB Tidbits

FMB Members: Thanks for a great road trip last night, despite the lack of a performance opportunity. I know that standing around and waiting is sometimes difficult too. I think we made the best out of a bad situation and we didn't even get wet. I hope the Panthers prevail tonight.

We'll be rehearsing this week Monday and Wednesday 3:15-5:15. Here's how the weather looks:
I don't think we could ask for better weather for late August/early September. You should have your entire show memorized by now. If you have not started cracking on SSB/Alma Mater/America The Beautiful, now is the time as we are just two weeks away from our first home game and have to present a pre-game performance as well.

See you on Monday!

I have put the handbooks online for your perusal. If you're a real go-getter, you can read now, download the handbook form (or at the bottom of the page), print it, sign it, and turn it in the first day of school. Wouldn't that be cool?

Here's direct links to each of the handbooks:

Video from Meet The Teams

Comments/feedback/critique from both members, alumni, and staff are welcome. Not a bad start, but we've obviously got some drill to clean and some impact points to polish. It's a great start though!

This is our first football game of the year and the folks at North Union have a healthy respect for our band and our program. Let's put on our game faces and wow them at halftime, and show them appreciation for their hard work on their show as well. Continue to spread the PRIDE and …

Twas the Night Before Band Camp...

Are you ready? I'm packing as we speak. Be sure to bring your own linens (sheets, towels, etc.) and plenty of socks. Weather is going to be very comfortable, I'm glad to report! Make sure you have your emergency medical form and a check for the remainder of your balance at camp check in. If you need to reach me tomorrow, please call the cell. The staff and I are chipping the field after lunch and should have it nice and ready for you by the time you arrive.

Bob from Colonial Music will be at check-in to sell you reeds, neckstraps, valve oil, and the like. You may pay him in cash or check payable to "Music Arts Center".

See you on Sunday. It's going to be the best FMB camp EVER!!!
