Band Camp Update - June 1

Calendar of Events
The calendar of events is set in stone.  There will be no additional dates scheduled for the Summer/Fall 2010 season.  You can visit the calendar online any time and print a copy for your refrigerator.  Band members are required to attend all rehearsals and performances and are bound by the Fairbanks Band attendance policy.

Band Camp Money
Members should have $100 in their account by Monday, June 7.  If you made your $50 deposit and sold two boxes of candy (or made another $50 payment) then you are good to go until August.  If you do not have a $100 balance, please drop a check payable to "Fairbanks Music Boosters" into the mailbox in the band room by 3pm Monday.  You may pay your entire fee of $230 at any time.  If you are in financial need, you may apply for a camp scholarship by downloading this form and returning it to the booster mailbox by June 4.

Folders/Music
Please don't lose your folders.   Find them and bring them to school on Thursday and Friday June 3 and 4.  We will sight read the entire contest show and even rehearse a bit.  Spend some time in June and July building strength and memorizing your opener and production.  Camp will be MUCH more fun if you have some music memorized coming in.  All contest music must be memorized before you leave camp.

Summer Uniform
New members (and old members who need a new shirt) need to submit their FMB Polo orders to the mailbox before we leave for Summer.  They are $20.  Please put your check payable to the boosters and shirt size in the mailbox.  Please use an order form if you have one.

First Week Back - July 19-23
Monday, July 19 is a big day!  Rookies and squad leaders will rehearse 8am-noon.  Drumline will rehearse 1-4pm.  Then we will have full rehearsals on July 20-23 from 8am-noon.  We will learn marching fundamentals and prepare for the Union County Fair parade.  We will also rehearse our contest and pre-game music in detail.  You should come prepared to work in cool summer clothes.  You need to wear athletic shoes and socks.  Please bring a water bottle and be sure to sunscreen!

Band Camp Page
The band camp page is live at http://fairbanksband.org/Band_Camp.html.  Check it out for directions, details, and what to bring.  Roommate sign ups will begin on Tuesday, July 20 and must be finalized by Friday, July 23.

Mr. Keller's Blog
FMB members should check Mr. Keller's Blog weekly during the summer.  All updates will also be posted on the Twitter page as well.

Contact
The best way to contact Mr. Keller June 8-July 18 is via email.  Use the cell/text only if you must.  If you have questions about your band camp account, you should contact Mrs. Garwood.  Another great way to stay up to date is by becoming a fan of Fairbanks Marching Band on Facebook.
