FMB: Busy Week Ahead!

Welcome back to the 2011-2012 school year!  It's going to be a great season for the FMB and here are some updated about what's just around the corner:

First day of school
The FMB will rehearse on Wednesday 8/24 from 3:15 to 5:15.  Come prepared with athletic shoes, socks, and clothes suitable for marching.  We will be cleaning parts 1 and 2, and reviewing part 3.  Don't count on getting out early on Wednesday...we have lots to do!  After this week, we will assume our regular rehearsal schedule of Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15-5:15.  Attendance is required at all rehearsals unless approved 48 hours in advance.  If you have questions on the attendance policy for rehearsals or performances, you can always read it here.

Meet The Teams - Thursday
We will perform at the annual "Meet The Teams" night on Thursday 8/25.  We will warm up at Harmony Field at 7:00 P.M., then move to Kyre at 7:30 where we will play The Victors, Star Spangled Banner, and Pirates Part 1.  We will also march and play part 1.  Afterwards, band members will be introduced to the crowd.  Members are kindly asked to stay until the end of the event, which will be done by 8pm.  Dress is SUMMER UNIFORM, which now includes your FMB TSHIRT instead of your polo.

Football Friday - North Union Road Trip
Our first game is on Friday 8/26 at North Union High School.  Dress will be SUMMER UNIFORM including your FMB t-shirt.  We will load the bus and trailer at 5pm and depart at 5:30pm.  The game begins at 7pm and we will be home at approximately 10pm.  We will march and play Pirates part 1 and part 2 at our first game.  EVERYONE rides the bus to away events.  If you wish to ride home with a parent, you must submit a note to Mr. Keller no later than 5:30 PM when we depart FHS.  We will be traveling on one bus this year. Parents are expected to pick up students from the school in a timely manner.  ETA will be posted on Twitter on the way home so you can be ready to pick up as soon as the bus arrives at FHS.

Uniforms
New uniforms will be delivered on Tuesday!  We will take a week to get everyone fitted and put together and most probably debut them at our first home game on September 9.  I'M SO EXCITED!

Handbooks
We will go over FMB member handbooks on the first day of school.  All band members and parents are responsible for reading this material, and students are subject to all rules and guidelines for the upcoming school year.  It is not necessary to return a handbook form this year.  If you have any questions or concerns with the band student handbook, please contact me at fhsbando@gmail.com.

Marching Shoes
Band members who require them will be sized for Drillmaster marching shoes the first week of school and a group order will be placed.  Shoes are $30.  Please make a check or money order payable to "Fairbanks Music Boosters" and drop in the mailbox in the band room by September 9.  If you old shoes are missing or in disrepair, please place an order for new shoes.
