5/6 Schedule Change - Concert Prep

As the Spring Concert is coming up soon, the schedule must be changed to accommodate full band rehearsal for the 5th and 6th grade bands.  Here are the changes:

5th Grade Band
Week of 4/23 - Last week of regular schedule
Week of 4/30 - FULL BAND meets on Monday/Wednesday/Friday in the HS band room
Week of 5/7 - FULL BAND meets on Monday/Wednesday/Friday in the HS band room
Monday, May 14 - FULL BAND meets in the HS band room

6th Grade Band
Week of 4/23 - FULL BAND meets on Monday/Wednesday/Friday in the HS band room.
Week of 4/30 - FULL BAND meets on Tuesday/Thursday in the HS band room.
Week of 5/7 - FULL BAND meets on Monday/Wednesday/Friday in the HS band room.
Monday, May 14 - FULL BAND meets in the HS band room

The Spring concert is on Monday, May 14, at 7pm.  Details for performers will be published one week before the concert.  By this Friday, all 5/6 band members will have received their official concert announcement on paper.  If you have not, you can see it on the blog here.

FMB: Memorial Day Parades May 28

Our Memorial Day performances are very special to the residents of Milford Center and Unionville Center and we again happily contribute to their community celebrations. All FMB members are required to participate. Music will include the Victors, National Anthem, and America the Beautiful. Dress is Summer uniform. 
The day will begin at the Darby Township Building on Cross St. In Unionville and end at the cemetery in Milford. Bus transportation will be provided from Unionville to Milford if you require it.
9:15am - warm up 9:40 - Parade begins 10:00 - memorial service begins 10:45 - play at Unionville cemeteries 11:00 - load bus/trailer 11:15 - depart for Milford 11:20 - arrive Milford Center 11:30 - warm up/line up (at the fire station) 12:00 - parade #2 begins 12:15 - play at Milford cemetery 12:30 - band members are dismissed.

If You Missed The FMB Parent Meeting...

If a member of your family did not attend the parent meeting on April 11, you MUST read all of this material....to the bottom.

Info from Mr. Keller:

*It's going to be an exciting year for the FMB!  We will be performing music from the Harry Potter series of films.  We will compete at Hilliard and OSU this year, as well as perform at the North Union band festival.

*Attendance at every rehearsal and performance is required.  Students taking band for credit will be held accountable in the handbook grading policy and it will be strictly enforced.  Except in the case of personal illness, all excuses must be submitted in advance (48 hours for rehearsals and 14 days for performances) and must fit the handbook criteria for an excused absence.  Not having a ride, having to babysit, family vacations and the like are not excused absences.  You can always find details on the attendance policy and the band handbook online.

2012 Spring Concert - May 14

The Fairbanks Local Schools - Department of Music Spring Concert Monday, May 14, 2012 7:00 P.M. – High School Gymnasium
Performing groups include: Fifth Grade Band, Sixth Grade Band, Middle School Choir, Junior High Concert Band, High School Concert Choir, and High School Concert Band.
*Attendance is required for all performers
Proper attire for performers is required: 5th, 6thand JH Band – Look nice. No jeans or tennis shoes. Guys wear ties. Ladies may wear pants or full-length skirts. HS Band and Choir – Ladies in all black, pants or long skirts, black shoes. Gentlemen wear black pants, socks, shoes, and a black long-sleeved collared dress shirt.
This concert is free and open to the public Please tell family, friends, and neighbors!

FMB Parent Meeting April 11

Greetings!!

Just wanted to pass along a few tidbits regarding the 2012-2013 Marching Band season.

There will be a mandatory meeting of band parents this Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm in the band room. We will have a booster meeting at 6:00, everyone is welcome to come and learn more about the Music Boosters.

We will also have some spots open this year if you would like to run for a position, please plan to attend.

We will also have our annual candy bar sale for Marching Band members to help defray the cost of band camp. The cost per box of candy is $52.00 your child will make $25.00 per each box of candy sold. We will have candy available to take home that evening so they can start their sale. Sorry, the band boosters only accept checks made out to the FMB. For accounting purposes we ask that you either write a check or have a money order payable to the FMB in the amount of $52.00. If you wish not to sell candy that is fine. Band camp will be $230.00 and deposit is $50.00.
