Bus Assignments for Field Trip 11/30

Students will be dismissed from class at 8:15 and will load buses behind the middle school.

Students should wear nice school clothes and bring a sack lunch or money for McD/Wendy's/Taco Bell for lunch.

Chaperones need to meet in the band room at 8 am.

5/6 Band - Perfect Practice Pizza Parties

5th and 6th grade band members who have kept up their outstanding practice habits will be invited to the "Perfect Practice" Pizza Parties on Thursday, December 20!  Permission slips will be distributed in class.  Students must achieve the minimum amount of stickers to receive their invites:

5th Grade Band - 10 Stickers
6th Grade Band - 24 Stickers

I will check practice records the week of December 10 and distribute invitations.  The attached permission slips must be returned no later than the time of the party.  No permission slip means no responsible!

The parties will be held on Thursday, December 20, during regular band time.  Pizza, pop, and dessert will be provided.

6th Band Schedule Change - Week of Dec. 3

As the holiday concert is drawing near, it is necessary to change the 6th grade band schedule to facilitate group rehearsals. 

Beginning the week of December 3, the 6th grade band schedule will be:

Monday 12/3 - Full Rehearsal
Tuesday 12/4 - No band
Wednesday 12/5 - Full Rehearsal
Thursday 12/6 - No Band
Friday 12/7 - Full Rehearsal

Monday 12/10 - Full Rehearsal

Wednesday 12/12 - Full Rehearsal
Thursday 12/13 - No Band
Friday 12/14 - Full Rehearsal

FHSCB LIstening

High School Solo & Ensemble Feb. 16

Students participating in FHSCB are eligible to participate in OMEA solo and ensemble competition.  The event is held on Saturday, February 16 at Westerville North High School and performance times occurr all day from 8am to 5pm.  If you are interested, please consider the following things before telling me you are going to participate:

1.  You must play a piece from the required list for your instrument or voice range.  Wind pieces have piano accompaniment.  Music is graded on difficulty with C being the easier and A being most difficult.  If this is your first time at solo and ensemble contest, I recommend you taking a class "C" solo.  We will shop for appropriate music get your sheet music to you no later than December 10.

2.  Your entry fee of $25 will be paid for by either the music department or the boosters.  If you drop out after this fee has been paid, you are responsible for repaying this amount.

3.  You will have to practice. A lot.  You will be graded by a judge…

MS Band: OSU Field Trip Update

I have checked all the permission slips and there are six students who have not returned a permission slip and/or money for the OSU trip on November 30.  Please get this to me AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you are still planning on going on the field trip:

Chaperones for Nov. 30 Trip to OSU

Here are the parents who RSVP'd first for the Nov. 30 trip to OSU and are going on the trip.  If you cannot make it, please let me know ASAP.  You will need to be in the band room at 8am and are expected to ride the bus and help supervise the students.

The 2012-2013 Fairbanks Basketball Pep Band After-School Rehearsals: Monday, December 3, 3:00 – 5:00 Wednesday, December 5, 3:00 - 5:00 Attendance is REQUIRED.

Pick Up Your Cookie Dough Nov. 1

You MUST pick up your cookie dough on
Thursday, Nov. 1 from 2:45pm-7pm
in the FHS band room
*Students with orders of 6 or less can realistically get their orders home on the bus.  These students may come to the band room from 2-3pm and get their items to take home.

*Students with orders of 7 or more: It is recommended that you have a parent pick you up from school, or go home after school and then return to pick up your order.  Someone will be at the school until 7pm for you to pick up your cookie dough.

*Cookie dough needs to be delivered on the evening of the 1st, or it must be put back in the freezer.  Please notify your customers and arrange delivery as soon as possible.
