FMB: Band Camp Check In Info

All,We just wanted to pass along a couple reminders about what we'll be doing/asking for as part of Band Camp check-in this Sunday, August 2nd from 3-5pm.Key items we will be asking for:1.  Payment of any remaining balance.  If you have any questions regarding your balance, please do not hesitate to let us know.  Only checks will be accepted and should be made payable to Fairbanks Music Boosters.2.  Medical form  (if not already turned into Mr. Keller).3.  Case (24 minimum) of bottled water.Key items we will give your band member(s)1.  Room Key and Meal Card  -  ** IMPORTANT ** :If either of these is lost, a $50 / item fee (set by Urbana University)will be charged to you.2.  Lanyard (if you need one) to hold meal card and/or room key3.  Clipboard (if you're a new member)4.  Drill chart

FMB 2015 Presents "Carmen"

The Fairbanks Marching Band will return with a tour-de-force contest show this fall, presenting their version of Georges Bizet's "Carmen."  This is the first time the FMB has tackled an opera for a field show.  The music is by Randall Standridge and is suited not only to strong musical impact, but also visual impact.  The band will be performing at three local contests this year (TBA).  All band members currently in grades 8-11 are encouraged to participate and be part of this very special season. Select 7th graders will be invited to participate and fill out our instrumentation, which will be expanded to include several sideline percussionists as well as some prop and effects personnel.

FMB Parents: Update from Mike

Hi Fellow Band Parents,
I hope everyone's summer is going well.  It's amazing how the time flies!  A couple quick things for all of you ahead of the upcoming Band Camp at Urbana University:

Band Camp Chaperone/Supply Help:  A big THANK YOU to those that have signed up to help contribute supplies and/or chaperone.  I think we still have some chaperone slots available.  We'll get a follow-up email out to provide some clarity on responsibilities and/or accommodations.  I think we also may have a tweak or two to make to the dates/times that show on SignUpGenius.  Be aware that those volunteering have the option of staying at the dorm overnight.
Payment Reminder:  A friendly reminder that payment of your remaining balance will be due no later than camp check-in on Sunday August 2nd.  Most/all of you should have received an email with your remaining balance.  If you have any questions about your remaining amount, please do not hesitate to reach out.  For those that have already pro…

FMB: Important Upcoming Dates

Here's all the important calendar dates for FMB members through the first week of school.  Remember that attendance is required at all events unless excused via the attendance policy.
Monday, July 20 - Rookie Camp 8am-Noon (Rookies and squad leaders) Tues. July 21-Fri. July 24 - Pre-camp rehearsals 8am-noon (All members) Monday, July 27 - DCI Dublin - Bus leaves 5:45pm (optional) Sunday, August 1 - Band Camp - Check in 3-5pm Aug 1-7FMB Camp at Urbana University Friday, August 7 - End-of-camp show - 5pm Monday, August 10 - Full FMB 8-Noon Tue. Aug. 11 & Wed. Aug. 12 - Full FMB 3:15-5:15 Monday, August 17 - School begins (Rehearsal 3:15-5:15) Wednesday, August 19 - FMB Rehearsal 3:15-5:15 then Meet The Teams 6:30pm. (Stay over. Pizza is served)

FMB: July 2015 Update

1.  Please study the calendar of events.  All rehearsals and performances are required unless excused in advance in case of wedding, funeral, military duty, or as soon as possible in case of personal illness. Babysitting, no ride, sibling commitment, or parent commitment are not excused absences. Please arrange your schedule so you can make it to all events.  Members participating in other school sponsored activities will need to get me your practice/game schedule as soon as it is available so modifications can be made.  You can always see the calendar online.

2.  I will once again be paying for summer uniform polos for rookie band members.  Work on filling out your summer uniform with a pair of all-black shorts, white socks, and white-ish tennis shoes.  Please do not buy a new pair of shoes if you have anything that is not completely black.  I am very reasonable about summer uniform shoes.

FMB Camp 2015

FMB CAMP August 2-7, 2015
Urbana University, Urbana, Ohio
Check-in/Check-out Times/Procedure Camp check in is in the McConnel Hall lobby on Sunday, August 2 from 3-5 PM. See directions below to find your way there, or view the google map. If you get lost, call Mr. Keller's cell at 937-243-2031. You will need to check in to get your key and meal pass. You will need to bring your emergency medical form (see below), any money that you owe, and any money for supplies, etc. Please also remember to bring one case of bottled water to check in.

Check-out is immediately after the End-Of-Camp Show on Friday, August 7, which will be approximately 6 P.M. If your parents are not coming to this show, please arrange your ride for 6:00.
