The final plans for the NORTH UNION FESTIVAL OF BANDS are complete.  The festival will take place in the athletic complex at North Union High School on Saturday, September 27, 2014, beginning at 6pm.  Below are some last minute details that should help the evening to progress smoothly.

Please plan on arriving at such a time that you will be warmed up, dressed and ready to line up for the entry.  We plan to parade into the stadium at 5:40 pm.  The suggested arrival time is 5:00.  Upon arrival, your band will have a chaperone assigned to guide you throughout the evening.  This chaperone will meet you at your bus.

The address of the high school and driving directions are attached.

Visitors will park in remaining spaces in the parking lot.  Additional parking and handicap parking will be located behind the home bleachers.

Gates and concessions open at 5pm.  Sandwiches and noodles are included in the menu as well as beverages and snacks/candy available throughout the evening at a reasonable price.  We encourage your band to visit the concession stand during the half of the evening that they are not performing.  We hope to have as many bands remaining in the stands during the evening to be an audience for other performances.
Tickets will be general admission $5.00, Senior Citizens / students $3.00.

Each band will have an assigned area in the east stands.  Your NU chaperone will direct your band to its section.  This area is for the Bands and Staff only.  If possible, chaperones and parents are to sit in the bleachers on the west side of the football field.

Bands will parade in front of the home bleachers before taking their seats.  At 5:40, the announcer will begin announcing bands in the order of their performance.  Each band may play their fight song or drum cadence (your choice) in front of the west bleachers and then continue around the track without stopping.

After bands parade around the track, Bands will be escorted to their assigned seat to watch performances. The National Anthem will be played at 6:00 pm.

There are no designated performance times; each band will perform immediately after the previous band has exited the field.

At intermission, the announcer will lead the parents stadium side first in a mass ‘scavenger hunt’.  After a few rounds, the announcer will announce that the bands will be performing a musical number from the stands.  Please prepare a short arrangement (2-3 minutes max) that would be appropriate to play from the stands (such as a song that would be played during a time out).  So please have a piece of your choice ready for this.  This ‘battle of the bands’ will go in order of performance.  We will do the first 6 bands in a musical number then play stadium games with the band side. Then we will end with the last 6 bands.  The first 2 bands(7 & 8) that perform after intermission should make their way to the warm-up and performance areas once they have played their music selection for the ‘battle of the bands’.
For the ‘scavenger hunt’ - HINT:  some items might be common, some might be unique so students / adults might want to bring a few odds and ends in their purse / backpack to play this game.  Winners will win coupons for items at the concession stand.

At the conclusion of the North Union performance, bands will line up on the football field.  Your chaperone will direct you to your pre-assigned yard line.  Each band will send representatives to the sidelines to receive their trophy and checks.  Encourage your parents and students to support all the bands with polite enthusiasm.  At the conclusion of this ceremony, bands are dismissed.

Videotaping will be allowed and there will be a video area reserved in the back row of the stadium.

Festival t-shirts listing participating school names will be available for purchase.

Short sleeve: S-XL $14            2x/3x $15             Long sleeve: S-XL $17             2x/3x $18
