General Music 6 - Fundamentals

Materials –Please come prepared to class each day with your pocket folder, a pencil or pen, and paper.  There will be no locker passes, so bring everything you need.

Grades
In-class worksheets will be worth 5-40 points.  Quizzes will be worth 10-20 points.  Tests will be worth 40-50 points. Your grade will be the total number of points you have earned divided by the total points possible.  The standard grading scale will be used.  Extra credit may be given at the Mr. Keller’s discretion.  Grades will not be rounded up.  No exceptions.  Assignments must be turned in on time to receive full credit.   No late work will be accepted the week prior to the end of the grading period. 

Participation Grade
As much that you do in this class will be LISTENING-based (and sometimes DISCUSSION-based) there will be 5 participation points possible for each class period.  If you are not prepared for class, disrupt class, or if you choose not to participate, points will be taken away.  At the end of the term, these points will be totaled and added to your grade.  25 points per week adds up very quickly.  If you pay attention in class, you participation grade will reflect it.  If you do not contribute or listen, your grade will be hampered.  If you continue to disrupt class, you will be disciplined.  Please see the next caption:

Conduct, Effort, Attitude
It is expected that you conduct yourself in an appropriate manner at all times and follow instructions carefully.  If you lose all five of your points and continue to disrupt class, you will be assigned an after-school detention.  If you receive 3 or more detentions in a grading period, or cause a serious disruption to class proceedings, you will be referred to the principal’s office for further disciplinary action.  Politeness and respect will be rewarded with fun activities and expanded privileges.


Classroom rules:
  1. Conduct yourselves well before instruction begins and after it concludes.
  2. Stay in your seat unless given permission to leave it.
  3. Students are not to touch the instruments,electronic or audio equipment without permission. This will result in an automatic detention.
  4. Do not write on tables.  Do not put feet on chairs or stands
  5. Always listen.
  6. Come prepared for class
  7. Show respect for your classmates and instructor
  8. If you make a mess, you clean it up
  9. Cell phones and iPods are not to be out during class.  They will be confiscated if seen or heard. Please keep them off and away.
  10. No food, beverages, or gum permitted in the classroom.



General Music 7 - An Appreciation

Your grade will be the total number of points you have earned divided by the total points possible.  The standard grading scale will be used.  Extra credit may be given at the Mr. Keller’s discretion.  Grades will not be rounded up.  No exceptions.  Assignments must be turned in on time to receive full credit.  Late work will receive 75% credit.  No late work will be accepted the week prior to the end of the grading period.

  4. Stack stands when you enter the room.

  6. You must ask permission to use piano, keyboard, or computers.
  7. Always listen.
  8. Come prepared for class
  9. Show respect for your classmates and instructor
  10. If you make a mess, you clean it up
  11. Portable music players are ONLY permitted after class activities have ended.  Players are brought at your own risk.  Music listened to should be school-appropriate.
  12. No food, beverages, or gum permitted in the band room.
